there are as many ways to serve as there are talents among us
We have an abundance of opportunities for the shy and bold among us to make our community and world a better place. From service to help in our beautiful liturgy to outreach into our wider community you will find purpose and strength walking the way with us.
Altar Guild – The Altar Guild takes good care of those things which contribute to our worship: linens, vessels, candles, decoration, bread and wine and more. They faithfully serve at every service.
Greeters – Greeters are in the entryway of the church to answer your questions, hand you a bulletin which outlines our service, and make sure you feel comfortable and welcome.
Lectors – Members of the congregation known as lectors participate in reading from the Old Testament and New Testament at each of our worship services
Ushers – Ushers guide the flow of people to receive communion at the communion rail.
Choir – Our choir rehearses on designated Wednesday evenings at 7 pm September through May. They sing anthems and provide musical support for the Sunday Eucharist.
Eucharistic Visitors – These licensed, trained ministers carry Holy Communion from the Sunday service to those who cannot attend due to illness or immobility.
Community Dinners – We’ve been opening our doors on the third Wednesday of each month since November 2010. Everyone and anyone is welcome to join us for dinner, 6 – 7:30 pm. Much of the food is donated, prepared by members of Resurrection and their friends. We serve people hungry for community as well as food. Always good food. Always good people. Always plenty of ways to help serve at our community dinners.
Twelve Step Groups – The doors of our facility are open to these self-help groups:
Omar Cline Ministry – This ministry of gifting and visiting is funded by Omar Cline’s daughter, who was grateful for someone visiting her father in a nursing home in Utah while she lived in California.
Kiva Micro-lending – Kiva is an organization which combines personal loans from people across the globe, made online, to those in third world countries striving to make a better life for themselves and their families. Since 2008, Resurrection has loaned almost $20,000.
Community Garden – Our garden has sprung up to the east of the parking lot and welcomes neighbors as well as church members who love to see good things growing in the dirt. We bless the garden each spring at the beginning of the growing season.
Ark and Olive Branch – Our gift shop, located in the office wing of our building is a long standing ministry of this congregation. The proceeds of their sales are given to local, regional and international charities.
Building and Grounds – A large group of people are committed to taking good care of our beautiful building and grounds.
Bishop’s Committee – The Bishop’s Committee is the governing body of the congregation, consisting of six or more elected members, a Senior and Junior Warden, the Treasurer and the Vicar. They are responsible for all fiscal and temporal parish matters as well as the spiritual leadership of the congregation. Members are elected to three year terms at the annual congregational meeting each January. Monthly meetings are open to the parish.
Communications – We have a website, a Facebook page, and a Twitter account that need regular attention to keep the content timely. If you have an interest in social media, talk to one of the Bishop’s Committee members.
Activities – This group plans congregation-wide opportunities to enjoy each other’s company throughout the year.
Coffee Hour Each Sunday, volunteers put out a spread of good food to share after we’ve shared Holy Communion together during the church service.People usually stick around for an hour after church to catch up with each other, meet new folks and have a good laugh.
Saucy Stitchers These group gathers each Tuesday from 10 am – 3 pm to share handiwork skills, jokes and lunch. There are no dues, or meetings or minutes. Just fellowship.
