Powered by God and the Sun

Our church is “powered by GOD” in more ways than one

In 2016, the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection was awarded a grant from Rocky Mountain Power, which paid for 60% of the cost of our 27 kW solar array and its installation. Now, our light shines not only within our own congregation but also within our community, county, diocese, and the state of Utah. We generate our own electrical power whenever the sun shines. And, in our desert home, the sun shines most of the time.

We are demonstrating to our community that we are living our values as a Christian congregation as we “strive to safeguard the integrity of creation and sustain and renew the life of the earth”. This solar installation also significantly reduces our electrical bills. We are partnering with the local community and schools by inviting them to see our project and learn how it works. As we witness the power of the sun, our church is “powered by GOD” in more ways than one.

This project was made possible with funding from Rocky Mountain Power’s Blue Sky program customers and members of this congregation.
